VENADE FAMILY HOUSE

built in 2005

PROJECT LOCATION

Venade, Caminha Portugal

The terrain presented itself very irregular in shape and levels. The project sought to take advantage of these irregularities and adapt its functional program to the physical constraints that were imposed by the large difference of levels between its most extreme points.

It resulted in a sequence of exterior and interior spaces organized at different levels, from the main access to the plot to the services area, semi-buried, and with a direct access to the street at its lowest point.

The main volume was implemented with its back towards the neighbouring plot, opening its main facade to the more favourable landscape. The existing stone walls, defining the perimeter of the plot next to the road were traditionally rebuilt with the same type of local stone.
