Moitinha, Comporta, Alcácer do Sal, Portugal

This project corresponds to the rehabilitation of one of two existing volumes within the same plot.

The building here in question, previously a garage with two small compartments attached, was transformed into a living/ kitchen space. The chimney was kept in its original shape and the walls were cladded with a thick layer of organic insulation. The openings to the exterior were replaced and redesigned in order to ventilate and provide natural light to what was before, a dark and uncomfortable space. The roof was fully redone and extended off the limits of the west façade, protecting its wall from the sun and allowing a covered corridor along the building, facing the most privileged view over a flat and desert land.
